GIFT Campaign Report (1 April 2024 – 30 June 2024)

The GIFT (Giving in Faith and Thankfulness) campaign was launched in Advent 2016 to support the Archdiocese of Singapore’s vision of a more vibrant, evangelising and missionary Church. This report provides updates on its progress for the second quarter of 2024.

GIFT contributions in the second quarter of 2024 (April – June) amounted to $4.1 million, an increase from $3.6 million in the previous quarter. We urge every Catholic to sign up for a GIFT pledge, as it is the most sustainable means of fundraising for the Archdiocese.

As the appointed fundraiser for the Papal Visit in September, Catholic Foundation is heartened by your generosity. $0.3 million was collected during parish collections in June. The Foundation hopes to garner continuous support in the coming months for the Papal Visit at the second weekend of each month’s second collection. In addition, you can now purchase limited edition souvenirs, where proceeds will go towards defraying the cost of the visit. More details below.

Thank you for answering the call to support the Church!

Activity Highlights in Quarter 2

The Catholic Leadership Centre (CLC) organised the “Ephesians 6:10-17: Armour of God” retreat from April 6-7. The spiritual knowledge and practical implications of this Scriptural passage were unpacked for 19 leaders, who gained a deeper awareness of the supernatural realm and pitfalls in everyday life. CLC also organised the “At the feet of the Good Shepherd” semi-silent retreat from April 27-28 for 28 participants. They were given the opportunity to be healed by Jesus Christ of their inner wounds and be restored emotionally and spiritually, which may be overlooked as they tend to those under their care.

The Office for Catechesis (OFC) organised the “Mass with Intentions for the Special Needs Community” on April 14 at the Church of the Holy Cross, encouraging integration within the community and in the catechetical space. OFC also organised the “First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion Retreat” for bridging candidates on May 25-27 at the St Francis Xavier Seminary Building and St Joseph’s Church (Bukit Timah). Over 150 candidates encountered Jesus Christ through prayer, reflection activities, Eucharistic adoration and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Over 200 parents were also present as part of their own formation.
